How To Ensure Your Office Relocation Runs Smoothly

There are a wealth of reasons why you might need to move your business premises - whether you are staffing up or down and need more or less space, your lease has expired or you need to be closer to your clients. Whatever the reason an office relocation can be hard at times and it can get very confusing as to where to start and finish the move. There are lots of different things to consider such as the transferral of all of your office equipment such as computers, desks and chairs and also persuading your staff to relocate with you.

It is important to be sure that the move is something you really want or really need. Moving offices can be costly in terms of lost manpower and logistical considerations. If you’re thinking of a move to save yourself some money on monthly rents then you should factor in the moving costs and associated stresses to ensure it is worth your while. It is also important to consider your staff and the level of comfort they are already used to. If your current office has AC and the new one doesn’t will this mean you need to pay out for portable air conditioning units? Is there parking included? If your staff are used to having free parking they won’t appreciate losing their parking spaces!

Once you know that the move is certain you need to inform all of your staff immediately, as they need enough time to decide if they wish to relocate or of they need to leave the company (giving you time to hire other people to replace them). Talk to your staff and make sure that the move will help to keep your business afloat or even grow. You also need to tell clients as they may be local to you and they will also need to know that there will be a period of time where you will not be able to do their work.

Actually moving your office equipment and services can be very challenging, especially for larger companies.
